Today was our morning of physical testing here at Camp Bo Bo. After being told by my roommate in a slightly grumbly voice that my alarm was going off, I rolled out of bed at about 7:30 only to remember that this morning was going to be a 'fun' morning. And by fun, I mean painful (but in the language of skiing, fun and painful are interchangeable terms). The girls all arrived at the field house and we started our warmup on the track and on the Ergs for our 500m double pole extravaganza. Nate and Zach both arrived and things quickly got rolling after Maren plugged in the speakers. Since I had to work at the dining hall at 10:30am and I wanted to be fresh, I went first. It wasn't nearly as long as I thought it was going to be, it was just really hard to sustain such a breakneck pace. By the end, everyone was screaming in my ears and my arms were just about ready to give. Thankfully, I ended with just over 2:00 and the cut off is at 2:05. Yayyyy for success! All the girls had amazing runs and then we all headed over (in the pouring rain of course) to Buck for our treadmill test. Once again, I got the ball rolling. 12% grade with the speed increasing every minute. Oh bundles of joy. I held on for the required time (5 minutes) and then the rest was all bonus time. My legs definitely gave our before my heart rate maxed as I only got up to 190 bpm. But I thought I had a pretty good run. But I think my time gave the rest of the girls more incentive to go longer than me (I mean, who wants to be beat by a froshie??? :P) So all of our girls went longer and at the end, Erin beasted it out for 6:07. All and all, today was a good start to the season. We officially sell our souls *cough* I mean, start practice on Monday (just kidding, I can't wait to start up the season) and from there, anything goes. Good luck, stay safe, WEAR YOUR BLAZE ORANGE, and have fun.
Cheers!
