Back to Bethel

Today was a rather exciting day. I was able to head over to Bethel to join a group doing some bounding intervals today up Sunday River. Now the drive over was a little bizarre, I passed about 15 police vehicles and I later learned that there was a man hunt going on around the state. SKETCHY. Once arrived however, bearing my gifts of cookies from work, we headed up to do some solid level three bounding work. This was my first bounding sesh of the year and it felt pretty solid, the heart rate was a little high but I think that's because I did plyo's and speeds yesterday so my muscles and aerobic system were a little worn out. We managed to squeeze out about 8x3min lvl 3 intervals alternating between straight up and 30/30's. Afterwards, everyone minus me was rewarded with raspberry filled cookies and I rewarded myself with a trip to Letter S, one of the best swimming holes in Western Maine (besides Frenchman's of course). Everything was so peaceful and I had the beach all to myself. That is until a group of 6 children and parental units arrived with a Boston Terrier named Felix. Annnnnnd then I left. And got my favorite drink from Isabel's -the best coffee shop EVER- which is a French Vanilla Iced Mocha. I will never buy an iced mocha anywhere else as I'm afraid I might be disappointed.
Felix the Boston Terrier enjoys chasing sticks underwater...
All and all this week and last week were pretty successful. This week was supposed to be a little bit longer (about a 16 hour week) but since I have the REG coming up this Saturday, I cut back on the hours to get me ready and rested up for all the lovely physical testing we're going to be doing. I'm kind of nervous for this camp one could say, I'm entering a whole new playing field of competition and it really is some of the best skiers in New England. So I'm going into it with an open mind and for all of the testing, I'm just going to pit myself against myself and see what I can do. But at the same time, it is a little unnerving to be surrounded by such good skiers. Hopefully I'll be somewhat successful and not totally get my butt kicked. We'll see....
Other than that, there's not a ton to write about. The job is going pretty well and I've definitely had to learn to accommodate my training with my work schedule. And I've slowly been working my way towards the kitchen and I now know how to make a killer chicken salad sandwich (would you like that plain, or with pineapple or cranberries???) as well as strawberry maple salad and some killer cookies. But anywho... I have to rest up, I'm exhausted from today. And tomorrow is a Double Pole sesh after work mixed with some half-kilometer repeats. I'm in for a good time :)
Enjoy the weather while it's good!
Cheers!

Trent in all his glory. Confused as always.

Nordies are the coolest people you will ever meet. Hands down.
